Supporting the NHS: General Practice
Pictured above is a leaflet that aims to inform patients in the Barnet area of their local health care services, and provide alternative solutions to attending already overcrowded and underfunded A&Es. It was designed for a pilot scheme organised by Healthwatch UK, aimed to support patients to use services appropriately, as well as encourage patients to feel confident that they can care for themselves.
I also designed a series of posters was produced for Watling Medical Centre as part of a personal drive to improve design standards in a GP setting. Intimidating and threatening behaviour towards staff is not uncommon in health care; this along with other vital messages that help patients to access the services they need are the basis of a series of posters that could be used by any GP surgery in the country. They are black and white so that they can be printed on an A3 photocopier; the primary print production method used in an office setting.
Watling Medical Centre also commissioned the design of a newsletter, which familiarises patients with Dr's specialisms, and provides advice on self-care for common ailments and minor illnesses. Some patients are unwilling to see new doctors at the practice, and decide to delay treatment in order to see their preferred doctor. By introducing new faces and giving patients more information about the familiar ones, this newsletter empowers and informs patients to access appropriate care, and care for themselves.
Website Design for Woodford Dental Care
Woodford Dental Care commissioned me to update and revamp their website. I set them up on a WYSIWYG website builder, which allowed them to retain full control of their content without reference to or payment towards a third party. I also supplied them with training as to how to use their website builder after I had completed it.
Completion of this project required a trip to their dental practice to take photographs of their consulting rooms, instruments and waiting room. As a designer, I do not believe in the use of stock photography to represent small businesses. This website accurately reflects the way Woodford Dental Care Surgery looked on an average day in the practice.
The Moldova Project: Annual Report for 2015's Financial Year
Emma Watson of The Moldova Project commissioned me to design a PDF containing the charity's 2015 annual report. She writes:
'Olivia helped my charity to produce our Annual Report, and did a very professional job - we are delighted with the final version. Her artwork was creative and attractive and presented the information very clearly, as well as making use of the charity's branding. She was meticulous in ensuring that the language and presentation of the report was finished to a very high standard, as well as keeping us up to date about how the work was going and finishing the project in good time. I would definitely recommend Olivia to anyone needing a designer.'
